In my opinion i think that the text says the truth because at home and school the children speak very different, always its gonna be something different for example: the pronunciation, the way to write ,at home the family not always correct them, because they think its funny or wherever, and dont say nothing and the mind of the child creat that the way they said its correct and its not.
the standard is generally used in written communication, thaugh and codified in dictionaries and grammar books. description vs. prescription , description is saying what does happen and prescription is saying what ought ti happen.
